Personal Pronouns in Mandarin Part II: Plural

Plural: Singular + 們/们 (ㄇㄣˊ; mén)

(們 in traditional system;  in simplified system)

To make a plural form of any personal pronoun, add 們/们 after a singular pronoun.

1st Person Plural

我們 means we or us.

2nd Person Plural

你們 means you. Remember it's plural. 你們 can be used for a group of male or a group of male and female.

妳們 can only be used for a group of female.

As for 您們, there are people arguing that it's incorrect because 您 can both be singular and plural. Still, quite a few people think it's not a problem. If you don't want to use 您們, you can replace it with 各位 (ㄍㄜˋ ㄨㄟˋ; gè wèior 諸位(ㄓㄨ ㄨㄟˋ; zhūwèi). 各位 and 諸位 both mean everyone. 諸位 is more formal. Or, when there are two people, you can say 您兩位(ㄋㄧㄣˊ ㄌㄧㄤˇ ㄨㄟˋ; nín liǎng wèi)  or 您二位 (ㄋㄧㄣˊ ㄦˋ ㄨㄟˋ; nín èr wèi). Three people, 您三位 (ㄋㄧㄣˊ ㄙㄢ ㄨㄟˋ; nín sān wèi), and so on.

3rd Person Plural

他們 (ㄊㄚ ㄇㄣˊ; tā mén) can be used for a group of male or a group of male and female.

她們 can only be used for a group of female.

牠們 is for animals of two or more.

它們 is for two or more plants or inanimate objects. In simplified system, only 它 is used, not 她/牠.
